AZGOP State Committee Update

As mentioned in my last post, today is the Arizona Republican Party state committee meeting where new state party officers are being elected. In the effort to follow the "action" today without my ability to be there, I am using a new medium: Twitter. In following the live updates, I have learned that the following have been elected thus far (with giant thanks to Twitter user @azcapitoltimes for information):

Treasurer: Tim Lee

Secretary: Linda White

Chairman: Tom Morrissey

Resolution #1 also passed, authorizing the state to make the Arizona Republican Party primary closed. More info on this later.

Also going on today is the Arizona Democratic Party state caucus, where they too are electing officers for their state party. Currently, as I write this, voting for the new AZDem Chairman is underway between Rodney Glassman and Andrei Chernei.

UPDATE 4:27pm: Andrei Cherny was just elected Chairman of the Arizona Democratic Party, and Harriet Young was elected AZDEM 1st Vice Chair.

  1. Thanks for the update! I'm glad that Morrissey won. I hear he's the more conservative one. Hey, you should really become a precinct committeeman. I think you'd like it. I'm one and I don't really do anything, but I got to vote at the last Pinal County Republican Statutory meeting thing-a-ma-jig.

  2. Thanks for the comment, Telemoonfa. I do intend to become appointed as a PC sometime - I think March is when that occurs. Hopefully Morrissey will make a positive difference for Arizona. I wasn't too impressed with him during Thursday's LD19 meeting, but I'm totally willing to give him a chance.

You can become a PC whenever you desire. Just get your form. Give it to your county chair for signature and turn in to the Board of Sups for approval.

BTW--LINDA White not Pat was re elected Secretary of AZGOP.

As for the AZGOP Chair. Let's give Tom a chance. He is a hard worker and has broad party support.

  4. Bruce, thank you for the correction and the info on becoming a PC. My apologies to Linda White. I do indeed intend to give Tom a chance. I look forward to learning more about him in the near future.

    I appreciate your comment.
